Pulling engine quo

So lm pulling the old 292 with trans from my 1980 c30. Got everything off and cherry picker on it. Looking at the truck, not sure if I have the lift in the hoist to clear the grill and core support. What's involved in taking these off? Is it worth it. Done engine swaps in my 72 several times and left it in, but this truck sets up higher. Guess I could pull the tires...

Last one I did I pulled the front clip as a whole unit. Unbolt the frenders at the cab and inner fender bolt, unplug the headlight bulkhead, disconnect the squirter resivour, open the hood half way and attach the ratchet straps. Unbolt the two front rad mounts and disco the trans cooler lines and your out. So much room to work around the engine area and clean up the bay and firewall. Also removing just the rad support is more bolts to undo.

Just pull the grille and everything off it's pretty easy on these trucks.
As 84 400 said it will give you so much more room to work with.

If the main goal is getting the 292 out and pulling the tires gives you enough room to to the job, seems the easy and simple answer. Just make sure you still have enough space under the truck to tilt the motor/trans combo to clear things.

I have also removed front wheels and dropped them lower on some blocks. It was easier than dealing with the AC/Rad. Trans and stuff.

I pull the valve cores out and just let the front tires go flat to get the motor out of my truck.

Been there, done that. Your C-30 should be much easier than my lifted K20 was. I knew mine was too much for my cherry picker so I bought a rolling gantry crane and of course my ceiling height was just a bit too short and the oil pan still rubbed the core support. I didn't pull the core support because I didn't want to deal with the A/C and having to get it recharged.
