'74 Chevy 90 Long Nose

Here's a cool truck that recently sold at auction in Nebraska. Has an 8V-71 with a 5 X 4 Trans. Has that rare Shifting Sequence like the '72 GMC Long Nose I looked at a couple of years ago (you only shift it 10 times). Below is a link for details and more pictures.

A little bit, lol. Did you ever make it over to Salem to see that GMC?

Very cool truck! I had found this 1969 GMC MH9500 on the East Texas craigslist several years ago listed for $2000. It had an 8V71 and probably the same transmission setup. Supposedly ran and drove and was used off road only. It had a winch, headache rack, and fifth wheel. It sold quick, someone got themselves a nice truck.

Someone got a nice truck for a good price, $2000 is more like it. On the Yellow GMC above, I drew the line at a low $1900 and even though it had some rust issues, it finished off at $8900. We all had no idea it was going to run that high. I just learned that the Blue truck above finished off at $5800.

Yea, I went to look at it and actually bid on it early on the day of the auction's end. But, just too crazy high for my taste.
iirc I thought I sent you the pics I took of it that day.

Appreciate that you have re-posted the pictures Bill. Also glad that you included the Shifting Sequence Tag. It will give those who never saw it a chance to see what I was talking about. Also for those wondering, yes it sounded as sweet as it looks, lol.

Wow, sure looks like a clean rig! Thanks for sharing the pictures, I'd like to find one of these old 9500's one day. Until then I have the old V6 gas powered fire truck to tinker with lol.

Do you have any pictures of your truck here on the boards?

An 8500 is like a 9500 but has a smaller Engine. Although that 478M is a powerhouse.

I had one on the big truck thread before this forum was created, it only showed the front clip though. I haven't been able to do much to it, but it runs and drives great and pumps water. This one was taken recently, I started cleaning up rusty parts and kind of got carried away painting the grille, bumper, wheels, etc. Once the bodywork is done I'll repaint it solid red like it used to be. It has the original 478M and has a 5752C Spicer five speed non-od with a 7.17 gear ratio, governs out at 55.

Looks good.

What is the GVW on it?

Re: '74 Chevy 90 Long Nose

It has a 31,000 GVW. I don't have a CDL, but it's legal for me to drive it with my class B exempt license for the Fire Department since it's registered in my name as a privately owned fire truck. I started a new thread about it so as not to hijack this one any further lol.
