33's with this lift?

1 Attachment(s)
Right now my truck has 33 x 12.50 x 15 on stock rally wheels and new rear springs and it get's real close at the bottom of front fender when off road. I'm looking at running 33 x 10.50 x15 with a Skyjacker C125AK 2"1/2 lift at front and 2" in back, and will probably add ORD front shackles which will give another 1/2" lift at front to even it out some. Will this give me enough front fender clearance to do some light off roading, or to get to my hunting and fishing spots? No rock crawling or bogging planned.

I sure think so. I believe just going to the 10.50s would keep the tire off the fender. Surely + 2.5" would assure that. For comparison, I ran 12.50 35s on 10" wheels and a 4" lift on my '85 Jimmy and the fronts would rub. I think 6" wheels would have taken care of that for the mild off road use I give trucks. 12.50/33s would have worked fine with the wider wheels. If I had 8" wheels with the 35s and 4" lift I feel that would have worked. Wider wheels affect the lift height/tire size think in a big way. I think you should be fine with your plan

I agree. My current DD 2022 silverado is another good example. I’m running 35x12.50x20’s on the factory 8” wide wheels with no lift at all. If I had run 10” wide wheels I would have to run a 2” leveling kit to clear the same tires. I think you will be fine.

Just remember, a lift creates clearance at ride height it does not eliminate clearance at full bump.

I appreciate all of the replies. I'm going with 33 x 10.50 x15's, no rear block and just raise the front about 1"-2" to level it out. My front springs are 3 leaf off my old 1985 K30, I put them on because I thought they were still good, but guess they're not, because at the fender lip, the front sits almost 2" lower than the rear. The rear does have new, stock 8/1 springs, so I expect them to settle maybe a half inch. Should I try an add a leaf, or will this make it too stiff of a ride? The first picture is last month, when I got the truck home, it's on it's original springs, this picture shows new springs in rear and old K30's up front.

K5 I sold a couple years ago. 2 1/2 Tuff Country EZ ride front and 3” block on factory springs in the rear. 33 x 12.50 x 15 tires. Lots of off road with no fender contact ever.

Your K5 looks great, especially with the best friend in there! I've installed a couple of 4" lifts with 33's, always thought there was too much space though. I'll check into a 2 1/2 TC lift, thanks for posting!

Looks like your tires are low on pressure

I agree, she's saaa-weet! Why do we sell these things? I miss my ragtop '85 diesel Jimmy. I miss my '90 Blazer I bought new and ran for 18 years, still running great. On that one I got bummed out after sending money to STC (remember them?) for a soft top that never happened. Excuses on delay were vendors holding up components. It wasn't until the recording the number was no longer in service that I realized they took my money and ran. Shipment on components was likely held till STC caught up on their standing balance. My last call was to see what was up with my refund I had requested.

That '90 had 33/12.50s on 10" turbines. I took it to the spring shop and had them bring the front end up and inch or two by re-arching and adding a lift. No more than 2" lift only on front to level it up. I never twisted that one up, it was my ex-wife's daily driver. They'd rub up front in a twist but never snagged the Bushwacker Extend-A-Fender flares. 8" wheels would have done the trick

Yes, low pressure. I run about 12 psi in the front and 8-10 in the rear at the dunes. Most of my junk will get around fine at those pressures.

I wasn't really looking to sell this Blazer but I had a guy that wanted it more than I did so off it went. I like to find old survivors and bring them to life so I usually sell the shiny ones after a few years. My family isn't typically impressed with such antics.

I remember your tan K5 for sure. It was a nice ride! STC was the soft top to have back then for sure. I can relate though as I've sold vehicles for reasons such as your soft top experience. Sometimes you've just had enough and it's time to go!

OP, let us know how the lift goes.

Are you near Kansas City?

https://www.kcspring.com/

Take the springs or what you have and tell them what you want

I'm only 2 hours from KC and am planning a trip to LMC, so maybe do both the same day. Thanks for the info.

33s with 2.5” lift, been running like that about 15 years. Never rubbed or had an issue

I ended up with a 3" lift for the 33 x 10.50's on rally wheels, I think it looks better than using a 4". Sorry about the sad pictures, didn't have time to pull truck outside.
