Rear window Gasket

Hello:
Does rear window gasket supposed to be a complete round gasket or is it supposed to be a straight line which the two ends have to meet at the bottom of the window? I got this precision gasket set which is a line, and I am not sure if it is supposed to be like that. Having a cut and the water leakage at the bottom of the window.
Thanks

Depends on "Supposed" definition in you post.

If your going to a true restoration as it was in the day then complete one piece no breaks. (not a line). Still available by some vendors.

Here is a reference from the shop manual
https://chevy.oldcarmanualproject.co...51ctsm0105.htm

Other vendors have done the "Line" type so they can do one part to fit multiple years and manufactures. Cut to fit. And there is nothing wrong with this type with proper sealing.

little dab of 3m weatherstrip adhesive to join the ends, offset the expansion cord joint from the seal joint and glue it at end too

also for good seal, get a tube on non hardening butyl rubber glass sealant and run a bead in the rubber on both the body and glass side.

For windshield butyl rubber on body side and adhesive on glass side to help lock it in place.

I am not a glass guy, but Precision has some utube videos on installing glass in old trucks, they are worth watching. I made a ball end tool from a junk screwdriver, bent a welding rod into a tool to feed the cord into rear seal and found some good quality hard finish cord to pull the windshield rubber seal with.
got all 3 pieces of glass in with a helper, no leaks

the glass shop here in town used window rubber off a roll on mine same rubber that us used on heavy equipment, some semi trucks and farm equipment. same as what you have in that precision kit.
