i mostly post up on the 60-66 part of this forum but thought i would post pcs up over here of my 1942. is a 1942 Chevy/divco. chevy built 365 front end's and chassis like this in 42 and not all of them went to divco they couldnt give me the number of how many did. it was a ambulance in Fort Lewis on the oregon cost tell the early 50's then it served as Astoria Oregons first First aid car.

I love it. I want one too. Do you drive it? That would be great to drive to a swap meet and haul all your great buys home in.

Now that is one fine piece. You found a real treasure,I`m sure you know.Makes one wonder,"why bother?".I mean,Divcos had their own front ends and it`s so much special body work. It`s not like style played into it.That`s uniquely modified sheetmetal, not just a cowl & chassis.Don`t get me wrong,I love it!! I`m glad you plan to put`er back to her old glory.

Re: my 1942 chev

i have a pamplet some where i got from chevy about this car they had like 3 differant rear door options. and all the special order and part #s for this. even after they had all that info and how many chassis were madee with that frng end but didnt have how many they sent to divco that was kinda dissapointing. this is the same front end they would have used for school busses and so on what ever

Re: my 1942 chev

I`ve only seen Cabover and full front end buses.I`m sure it`s very rare. The Divcos had Continental 4 cyls,I believe.I imagine this allowed room for the Chevy Stovebolt, which had a great reputation in it`s time (and beyond).Any old way you look at it,that thang is purdy dang kewl!

Why don`t you post these pictures in the picture thread? It`s a great example of yet another configuration.
