Static lowering a '65 C10 longbed
I just picked up a '65 C10 longbed and it needs to be lowered. I know that I can get dropped spindles and custom springs for the front and lowering blocks and custom springs for the rear. I also know that I can bag it, but I just don't play that way. Air is for conditioning...
What I'm really wanting to know is, what springs can I use from other vehicles? I see where a lot of you guy's are lowering the back with Jeep coils, that gets about 3 to 3.5 inches right? How about up front? I read somewhere that S10/S15 front springs will work and net about the same, 3 to 3.5 inches. Anybody here know this for fact? I would like to hear from someone running this combo and pictures would be a big plus... I also see that some of you are running cut coils, is it or isn't it giving you a rough ride? Any other suggestions will be appreciated (pertaining to lowering my truck not pertaining to where to stick my head)! Thanks... |

Good questions.
Hope to hear some answers. |
Re: Static lowering a '65 C10 longbed
I dont have direct Jeep spring experience, but this is what I have read and heard from friends. Jeep springs are too light duty, they will lower your truck but they are soft and will bounce a lot and wont carry ANY load
Since the springs are relatively inexpensive, I mean the ones for dropping our trucks, I would suggest to get some of those. You will need shocks and an adjustable pan hard bar if going lower than a few inches. Bags will give you the best ride, ability to tow also, you can bag all 4 or just the rear. A vendor here on the forum can get you a great deal and tell you specifics for spring rate and such if you need that. Good luck and Welcome to the forum! Merry Christmas Yall! |

So if I read correctly you are looking to lower it 3-3.5" all the way around?

Re: Static lowering a '65 C10 longbed
Looks like Jeep springs for the rear-
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...archid=4072011 And s-10 springs for the front- http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...r+springs+s-10 I'm not sure how much cheaper they would be than 220 for front and rear lowering springs. |

Re: Static lowering a '65 C10 longbed
You get what you pay for. Spend the cash and order drop springs and shocks from CPP.
You'll end up doing it in the end anyway. See my build thread for my static dropped 65 long bed. |
