Cracked 250 Block
Hello,
I was cleaning up the 250 and noticed this crack. What do you think, is the block junk? It didn't leak water before, but I haven't really driven the engine yet. I didn't notice last night, but from the pic looks like it's been repaired before. Anyway, trying to decide what to do, so looking for opinions from the experts. https://i.imgur.com/RlTBTFX.png |
Re: Cracked 250 Block
It does look like somebody attempted to repair it before with welding and a threaded insert, plus the crack moved its way around. I'd be inclined to look for another block

Re: Cracked 250 Block
I think that's what I'm going to do. I had a previous thread that the #1 cylinder had low compression. This must be the reason. that Bolt doesn't hold the torque. I've been craigslisting small block chevy's. Wish GM still sold the 350 target motors.
