I've stumbled on something neat and I can likely get it for a fair value, but that's the issue... I'm familiar with 60-90 f-body pontiac prices, but that's about it :) this is way out of my league to price out.

No rot, 1 owner, "restored" in 80s (cheaply), originally blue, original manual still included, may be able to get buying paperwork/documentation, unsure on mileage but it never went far.

100% blown motor, crank snapped is what I'm told. but all original, motor/trans/interior seems to be all there (at least to my less than expert eyes it looks mostly untouched minus some wiring hacks and the usual stuff that happensover the years). Hasn't ran in 10-15 years probably.

Nice looking truck. Someone here may chime in with a value. If I was considering a purchase I would research what similar ones are priced at. Look through for sale ad's, Ebay, Craigs to get a feel for the market.

Also take into account what you want to do with this truck...have a restored stock one or build a modified street rodded truck.

How much are they asking?

I'm genuinely not sure what I'd do, may keep it if sourcing bottom end or rebuilding this one is affordable, I would keep it 100% stock possibly even as-is as a driver or there's always a potential to flip it.

asking price is up in the air, they are waiting for an offer.

I had a chance about a year ago to buy a very similar 38 pickup. at that time his asking price was $8k. I would have got it to hot rod and offered $5. He did not accept and truck is still for sale. Asking price is now $7k. Good luck.

Some where between 5 and 8 seems reasonable based on the info given. I've seen much rougher looking shells people want 5-6 for and I've seen basically driver condition trucks in the low teens. The hardest part with valuing these pre war trucks is that there just aren't a lot around anymore. Hopefully someone with much more knowledge than me will chime in.

In Az guys would be asking 20k for this truck in alot worse shape but they wonder why they NEVER sell.
I would say 8k is a fair price for both parties on this one.
