"Short" deck vs. standard deck vs. ?

So what's the deal with "short deck" as opposed to standard deck (9.025"?).

---why?

---advantages/disadvantages etc.?

Short deck = standard deck. There's only standard deck & tall deck as far as I'm aware.

you can make a 434ci small block out of a standard 400 block

now, if you have a 9.3 or even 9.5 block you can get over 500ci :metal:

there are 3 or maybe even 4 different deck height of bbc's. all have their size limits as well.

some people like using them taller blocks even on smaller cube engines to run a longer rod as well.
