'65 burb radiator frame mounts
1 Attachment(s)
Ok, so I'm getting close to being ready to get my frame to powder but I don't want to cut off the front vulcanized radiator support mounts without knowing what direction to go when I'm done. Any suggestions? Can I get replacements? Are their rigid bolt on options? Do I just have to be careful and reuse what I have??? Any help, pictures, links would be a big help.

Re: '65 burb radiator frame mounts
they are used only on panels and suburbans. due to the longer body structure of the suburbans and panels those are there to give some flex to the system. p/u body you just have 2 cab mounts per side and the rad mount. panels and suburbans have 5 a side plus the rad mount. the rad support mounts on a pu do not have that vulcanized rubber insulator, but are solid. as long as the rubber is not to badly cracked they should be ok. you may have to use shims in there as they may be sagged a little.
one may be able to sweet talk steele rubber into a new set???????????. never hurts to ask. the worst thing they can say is no to you. ron |
Re: '65 burb radiator frame mounts
I had bad luck with mine --- powder coating temp (400 deg),
Vulcanizing turned loose and they separated. I suggest cut rivets out, remove and re-install after powder coating with grade 8 bolts. I'm installing another set on mine in this manner... |

take picture of mounts, then cut off, replace when done

Re: '65 burb radiator frame mounts
I do not know why one would have to take pictures of them as it would be hard to put them on upside down or backwards
