1986 GMC 1 ton cab chassis questions
3 Attachment(s)
I picked up what was left of an 86 GMC cab chassis 159 inch wheelbase. A couple questions:
1) the build sheet says G80 limited slip-- Is that the dreaded "guv bomb" when jacked up it acts like a regular differential -while one wheel spins forward, the other one spins backward. 2) This has the narrow rear end- if in the future I want to install adapters and diesel wheels do I need the wider rear? |
Re: 1986 GMC 1 ton cab chassis questions
g80 is the gov bomb..i had one that quit working once and the centrifugal cams that lock it were broken...of course that may not be the axle that came in the truck..
id pull the cover..probably needs fresh oil anyway.. youll only need the wider axle if your running a dually bed.. not sure what you mean by diesel wheels..theyre the same rims for gas or diesel |

oh . you talking 18wheeler rims, wether they fit or not will depend on the offsets and tire gap needed..
the backing plates are nearly touching the springs on a C&C truck, a dually axle will give you a bit more room for clearance |
