Re: 8 Track ?
It came in with Grand Funk Railroad,3 Dog Night,The Guess Who...Oh,what vehicle?Didn`t the truck ones say GM and the cars had the bowtie?I think it was any Chevy car of that era.As for year, not sure. Were there any in-dash 8-tracks later on,or was that once cassettes took over? What had the simulated "burl" in the dash,Caprice?

Re: 8 Track ?
70 -72 monti carlos had the simulated burl on the dash

Re: 8 Track ?
Hmmm, learned a new word today. "Burl" huh? I thought it was called "Rust". :)

Re: 8 Track ?
How is it any different from the others?I`m I right about the truck ones having GM on the door?Or,was that just different years or just GMCs,Pontiacs, etc?

Re: 8 Track ?
Truck ones are truck ones. There are differences.
Trucks one generally have GM on the door..but anyone could put that type door on anything close. There are certain things to know if there a true truck one. I'f I told..well I have to silence everyone. Best way to figure stuff out sometimes is to buy a few and notice the differences between car and truck 8 tracks. There's more than one model that's correct for trucks. |
Re: 8 Track ?
Oh ok,Are you going to leave your info with someone when you die?
I don`t see these all over the place. So,I`ll never be able to compare. That has worked for my self-education over the years with other things, though.I ask because it looks like the one in the truck accessory book except for the door. |
Re: 8 Track ?
I got the top part of the unit.
Back in the mid-60's, when we converted from 4-tracks to 8-tracks, AND when GM was in its' infancy of installing AM/FM's in their vehicles, the Stereo for the FM came from a multiplexer. It mounted beneath the dash and the wiring was dependent on the radio for completing the unit. When 8-tracks became more popular, the added the 8-track player function to the Multiplexer. I would like to have a "plain old" multiplexer, to go with my AM/FM that needs to be "repaired". I believe it will fit in my '69 dash, and having the multiplexer would just be nice to behold. During the repairs, having it modified to accept my XM tuner output would be the berries! |
Re: 8 Track ?
