What power steering hoses are you using?

I have power steering from an ’88 GMC and trying to route the power steering lines. The modern lines have a hard line that curves forward and back. In the ’47 they won’t fit like that without cutting the inner fender. I need lines that go straight back. Do these hydraulic lines need to have some length of hard line? Why is there that much hard line?
I believe I need metric fittings. I found some universal hose kits, but they don’t specify fitting size.
I’m considering taking my hoses and have them modified, or make new ones to fit. Thought I’d ask here what you have done?

napa made all my hoses, mine are routed different cuz i have a hydroboost under the floor
bring the old hoses in to get the correct fittings and an estimate of the hose required
they have straight, 90°, 45° and probably other ends you can use
on my rack i use metric adapter to AN. google metric power steering adapter and you get many
at home, fit the hoses and then mark them with sharpie or paint stick and remove the hoses
bring them in to napa get crimped

I had some time and decided to try bending the line, it was easier than I thought it would be. The return line goes to a radiator, so I just reversed the hard line. Once I determine where the radiator will mount, I can have some custom lines made.
