What to keep off a spare 250?
Have a donated 250 I6 in the school shop. The 230 in my 65 runs just fine. the kids are starting to tear apart the 250 on the stand to learn about it and things are going to go in the scrap bin. Should I bother to keep any spares?

A lot of the brackets are asked for from time to time on the forum.

No brackets, it was in a boat.

Very little then if no brackets. Air cleaner?

was this a fresh water or salt water engine ?

Fresh. No accessories, just pan to valve cover. Everything else went back on the new engine. Students didn't mess around today, walked in the shop, it's down to the short block!

Re: What to keep off a spare 250?
I've posted pics before of the shop, there's one from years ago with my 65 on one lift and buddy's 63 on the other one. Probably lost from the photobucket meltdown. The kids are lucky... but so am I!

Since it's a boat engine, if it has Mercruiser finned aluminum side covers and valve cover those are fairly valuable.

Re: What to keep off a spare 250?
if its fresh water , your good than in keeping it
salt water would been another question once the student s are done w exploring something they wont see often n getting kind of scarce ( esp in my area ) button up what you can and store it off to the side , imo |

Whatever you toss, you're going to need six months from now.
