First timer here. Need help

I ordered this pan for my 5.3. My question is what dipstick and tube will work. The seller has not replied and there are many options out there. The 5.3 is going in a 72 2wd suburban. Attachment 2277074

Wouldn’t know. My stock tube was broken. This pan is also about 2-3 less shallow. Not sure if the factory dipstick length would mark correctly.

You will probably need to find a stock one maybe from a camaro so its shorter. Once you fill it with the correct amount of oil per the manufacturer of the pan then mark the dip stick.

I've used Lokar on some of my LS swaps. See pic. You can just see the top of the dip stick is on the left side just below the coil cover. I use 2002 Camaro oil pans.2002 Corvette coil covers.
Another pic of a LS3 swap I used a stock LS3 Corvette dip stick using a 2002 Camaro pan. LS3 Corvette coil covers.
Best thing to do is put in 6? quarts in the pan and see how it reads on the stick and then mark the stick as needed.

One engine I got from a wreck ,the tube was broke..I used a lokar also..
I put 6 quarts in it and it was dead on the full mark
The fill it and see what you got is probably the best idea

That looks like a Holley knock-off pan. Go on Holley's site and get the instructions. They have all the information on which dipstick.

Here is the link for info on the 302-1 pan, which looks like yours: https://documents.holley.com/199r10566rev8.pdf

That's what I was thinking Joyridin, is uses the LS3 dipstick and tube. I ended up buying the Dorman parts instead of GM

DORMAN 921-045
DORMAN 921-044

My LS1 came from an F-body, I swapped the pan to the GM performance 19212593
Muscle Car Oil Pan Kit. It came with a new dip stick and tube.

I tried looking up the part numbers but couldn't find them listed individually.

I think I am recalling correctly here. The dip stick mounts to the block and is not affected by the oil pan. Regardless of what the upper part of it looks like, the distance from the mounting point to the full mark is the same. (The different shapes, lengths are due to vehicle packaging).

That's what I was thinking as well cj847 when I needed to replace my tube. Seems like the stock one should work, however, I went ahead and replaced mine with the part numbers suggested by Holley. I have this same knockoff pan on a 2004 5.3 and I went with the GM parts. They ended up being sub-par quality. The dipstick end didn't even fit through the end of the tube and I had to ream it out! I'm curious to hear how the Dorman parts fit.

My dorman fit good, but I did read some reviews that said they had a similar problem you mention...
