Upgraded the Yukon
Since I acquired my Yukon, and I got a plug on all this stuff, I figured it was time to upgrade the audio just a bit. This is gonna be a dump of pictures, and my video's on the build and components. (I'm spreading it over a few posts for ease).
The truck http://i1329.photobucket.com/albums/...psjfwxlb1a.jpg Had Bose, the 6-disc, all of the steering wheel controls, XM and all that jazz...as well as the full Rear Seat Enterainment package with the DVD player, separate controls and headphones. I wanted to keep some of that good stuff, but lose a bunch of the trash I didn't need. I started off with parts ordering from my friends at Kicker Audio: (1) Kicker L7, (1) Kicker Kx1200.1, (1) 1/0 Awg power setup. http://i1329.photobucket.com/albums/...psmxy6q2k7.jpg http://i1329.photobucket.com/albums/...ps40xtsjfj.jpg http://i1329.photobucket.com/albums/...ps3ysxxj3i.jpg http://i1329.photobucket.com/albums/...psizvyssxf.jpg http://i1329.photobucket.com/albums/...psmrq2hyfs.jpg http://i1329.photobucket.com/albums/...pszyr50wds.jpg http://i1329.photobucket.com/albums/...psmpogl0no.jpg |

Then I picked up some 3/4" MDF, liquid nails, hardware, a speaker terminal plate, some heavy gauge speaker wire, and some carpet.
The box process is straightforward, with a few tweaks suited for my particular use. http://i1329.photobucket.com/albums/...psr1cgaka0.jpg http://i1329.photobucket.com/albums/...psd5qvgwi4.jpg http://i1329.photobucket.com/albums/...pse79h2l92.jpg http://i1329.photobucket.com/albums/...pscpzvkvpv.jpg http://i1329.photobucket.com/albums/...psx7wo4knf.jpg http://i1329.photobucket.com/albums/...pszkjwijgp.jpg http://i1329.photobucket.com/albums/...pslvw54nj9.jpg http://i1329.photobucket.com/albums/...psvodhsjcz.jpg http://i1329.photobucket.com/albums/...pstfratkof.jpg http://i1329.photobucket.com/albums/...psoumylhug.jpg |

Then it was on to the carpeting, trimming, and touchup areas.

Re: Upgraded the Yukon
A little update since the head unit is in now. Pioneer AVH4200-NEX with Android Auto and all that fun stuff. Interfaces with all the stock Bose stuff, RSE and all that.

Re: Upgraded the Yukon
Any more updates on installing the new radio? Looks like I'll be doing this in my father's 05 Duramax soon.

Re: Upgraded the Yukon
The last video shows it all in place and being updated etc. I've had it for a while now and it honestly works pretty great.
Android auto has a few quirks, but overall I'm pretty happy with it now that its configured. I have a work phone with unlimited data, so I have my own rolling LTE hotspot from the truck. Listen to Spotify and all that everywhere. |
