Front Brake Issue
3 Attachment(s)
I have a 69 C50 with power brakes (Booster under the cab and about 5 years old). My front brakes are locked up. I havent tackled it yet. I bought the truck several months ago and have been working on other things on it.
When I go to move it she's locked up in the front. Im thinking possibly collapsed brake hoses in the front or maybe rusted drums??. It does have a new single line master cylinder on the firewall replaced within the last year. This was an old tow truck, and I did check to make sure there was no front line lock on it. Any other suggestions on what to look for that I may be missing on this old truck? Ive decided to sell it and want the brakes working properly. Thanks |

Re: Front Brake Issue
Will the brakes release if you bleed them off at the wheel cylinder ?

Re: Front Brake Issue
Apparently a second type of master cylinder under the drivers side near the brake booster. Found the metal brake line that feeds the front brakes kinked badly in two places.....going to change it out tomorrow and see if that alleviates the issue. It may not be letting the brake fluid come back to the cylinder...

Re: Front Brake Issue
Try cracking the bleeder screws and see if fluid comes out as Bimus suggested, if no pressure there then you have some other problem. I've had drums rust to the brake shoes on more than one vehicle that sat too long and I assure you it is a pain to get them loose.

Anyway, I got it mostly together and went to move it and one tire just skidded. Put the biggest tip on a torch and heated the drum all the way around and it finally popped loose. |
