Rockwell t221 shift linkage (1967 GMC)

Do the shift linkages have a metal or felt washers to maintain the geometry of the shift linkage? There seems to be a lot of slop in my shifting. There was some binding with the tunnel as the bracket that bolts to the adapter was loose. Replaced the lock washers.
