1948 Chevrolet Canopy Express

Started April 1995, just finished, much like some of your real project vehicles! Started as the AMT 1950 Chevrolet 3100 Pickup kit, was lucky to get the All American Models resin Panel, which I converted into a Canopy Express. I scratch-built many parts, such as vacuum-formed interior panels, gas tank, taillights, single seat, twice pipes, steering shaft/box, etc. Had parts for the twin carbs.

Have posted Work-In-Progess photos on Flickr (linked these photos from my account), and step-by-step progress on the Model Car Magazine forum.

that is great! i thought it was real at first look.
I like the back floor paint splattered look, my dad was a sign painter, i remember his '50 Studebaker truck with multi colored spilt painted bed.

Thanks! My grandpa was a sign painter too, but I never saw the inside of his work truck.

I was wondering how you got the natural lighting and shadows. Very impressive, I really like the Texaco station too.

I've used various types of lights for a makeshift studio setup, but there is always something that annoys me, such as seeing the bulb reflection in glass, extreme contrast, etc. Overcast high clouds, not dark lower cloud cover, seems to be the best, close second is the Golden Hour, before sundown.

Thank you for your kind comment.

I have a set of less than perfect hubcaps that would look just right on that truck.

Oh sorry, I just realized this isn't a real truck. Mine caps are full-size!

I've admired your skills on other work of yours I've seen. You have good hands for sure, and great vison. Not eyesight, although that sure helps too. I mean foresight!

Thank you for the kind comment. BTW: Since you have "only" 74,000+ posts, how do I quote more than one person? My talent is very shallow.....

I haven't been checking in forever, realized I have not followed up on this topic. I entered a model contest that is usually held in Phoenix, because of COVID-1984, they tried a virtual version, they set up a website, everyone took pictures, they judged from those. Some regulars did not enter because they aren't photographers and/or computer geeks, some entered who would not drive across the country to participate. Pleased to say this won First Place in what is a new category.
