1964 Impala
 

So my first nice car was a 64 Impala back in 92 then I decided to take apart to fully restore, long story short, it's still apart. So I found another one on ebay so I can actually enjoy one while I work on the other... Here ya go...

A few specs on it.. New Jegs 350, rebuilt th350 rear end rebuilt. Car is an SS, originally green with black interior, resprayed black in the early 90's. I did some research on it and found that a family owned it less than 40 miles from where I live now and I had to drive 14 hours 1 way to Fresno to pick it up! PO had air bag set up installed and wheels at a shop in Cali, I've since redone all the airbags as it leaked more air than it could make. I've also installed a few options including tilt, tach, 4way flashers, tissue dispenser, rear window defogger, rear window blinds, vacuum trunk release, original wood wheel and bumper guards. Hope you guys like it as much as I do.

Thanks, I was a little hesitant to post it on here as a lot of the older guys give me crap about the wheels. But I figured what the heck, I like it and if they don't , they are welcome to their opinion! I'm toying with the idea of some 5 spoke 20"s but they are expensive and I'm trying to dump money in the truck right now! Maybe next summer... Plus at the end of the day, I like the little wires.

I like it a lot! 13" color match powder coated wires look very nice on a 64', especially in black. Dual antennas too! Simply beautiful!

Driving it! Honestly I haven't had time to do much other than drive it a few times here and there and buy a few parts for it. I bought a shifter conversion to convert it to a 3 speed pattern. Currently you only have PRND... no L2 or L1. I also have another set of front seats getting redone as they ones have a very small separation on a seam and it's only a matter of time before they get worse. And I have plans for redoing the trunk this winter. I'm headed to a show on sunday so I'll try to get some new pics for you guys!

I added the tilt, tach, flashers, tissue dispenser, trunk release and bumper guards.... I had the original wood wheel on it but I liked the look of the black wheel better. I'll see what else I can find to throw pics up of as we all know... everybody loves pics!

Here's a few more...#1 and #2 are my car and #3 is my buddies truck we threw together cause we were bored #4 and #5 are of a truck I saw at a cruise in in Montana, I had never seen a straight 6 with a blower so I figured I'd throw it in for you guys.

Cool stuff! I can't say I've ever seen a blown six before.

I love all the room these old trunks have. Makes adding a bag setup a lot easier.

Ya the trunks are huge... I'm goin to rework the setup and put the speakers on the package shelf and the tank and compressors down on the sides to add a little room and so I can make covers so its not obvious that they are there. Another winter project... Starting to get into the rainy season here so it'll come apart sometime soon.

Well, it's rainy here but I haven't done a thing to the car yet! Been busy working and my buddy with the huge shop moved so I have to keep my car at my place in a garage that isn't nearly big enough! So, I'm now waiting on permits to build a new shop here at my place, 40x48. Should be big enough for most of my junk! Probably won't be up until summer from the looks of things so I'll have to wait on the big projects for the car but I need to change the rear bags out before too long as they are rubbing on something and have almost worn a hole through. I'm looking for pics of any bag setups in the rear to get ideas on how to redo these so they don't rub. Also got all the electrical gremlins handled too! I'll see what I can come up with for pics as everyone loves pics!

Beautiful rideS. Having a huge shop sure would be nice...I'm stuck doing my blazer in a 1 car garage. I hate saying it, but that F*rd is bad a$$!

We built the Ford for about 1500 bucks minus the motor! We have always built lifted trucks and Jeeps so we have a pretty good stock pile of stuff.... The yellow Chev in my avatar I built in 2001 for 1100 bucks and the only thing original to the truck is the frame rails and the top 3/4s of the cab(new rockers, cab corners and floors) I like to trade stuff and keep the cash in my pocket if I can! I can't wait to have my own shop again so I don't have to be in a hurry to get stuff out of the way, I can take my time and get it done on my own schedule! I'll find some build pics of the other junk we've built...

Dad's car that was driveable and licensed was a 64 impala drop top 283 glide. Car was a beater but a decent looking one. I'll say this much you can fit a lot of flats of Coors, in the trunk of that car apparently.

Thanks for the pics, I'm probably gonna do the tubular lowers as well and I got some smaller diameter bags, hopefully that will cure the rubbage! And yes you can fit A LOT of beer in the trunk, when I was in high school I filled the trunk of my other Impala with ice and beer... I quit counting beers but I know there was 40 bags of ice.

Soooo... finally found a few free minutes to drive the car a couple weeks ago and aired it up and went to pull out and... BANG! luckily I was in the garage when the bag blew. So I found a set of tubular lowers and got to work. The geometry was terrible before and caused the bags to rub on a protrution off the rear end. So I cut the upper mounts to a wedge shape to get them to point more vertical rather than rearward. Cut the protrutions off the rear end, mounted up the new bags and bolted all back together. More better! Don't mind the zip ties... didn't have time to fab the bolt down tab for the e-brake cables.

Thanks! I'm running twin Viair compressors and a single 20 gallon tank. The front bags have hydraulic hoses to them for longevity and the rest is DOT air brake air line.
