Remote Starter

Just wondering if anyone has installed a remote starter on a Duramax diesel? Any problems? I had a Bulldog remote starter on a '02 GMC gas and it caused problems with the computer. I had to have it removed.

The duramax is a '07 2500

Is that 07 new body style or classic? If it's new you may be able to get a G.M. accessory remote start.

Guy I work with had an 07 or 08 max. The dealer can program it right in. Not any cheaper, but will be factory and should not cause any issues.

Most of the issues that i have seen with alarms and remote start systems are the guy that installed it. A lot of guys that installs these things have no business in a cars wiring harness. The biggest issue is poor connections due to laziness. instead of solder and shrink tube guys just twist wires together and use tape or use halfass connectors.

^Agreed. An alarm is only as good as the installation. I have done several and they take me 8 hours. Clifford remote starts are the best imho but if you got a monkee doing it you might as well have bought the walmart special.

i own a shop here in alberta and we install about 200 remote starters a year, lots in chevys and duramaxs with no issues. just make sure u have a qualified installer and u are using a quality product. stick to the major players in the industry like viper, autostart, astrostart and others. if i can be of any help let me know.
