Airbags and towing

I recently bought a Tundra to tow my 63 Burb on a dbll axle trailer. The truck has the tow package and seems pretty well setup. A good friend suggested I add air bags to the rear to level the truck and help control trailer sway.

Does this sound right? He has me looking at the AirLift5000 setup.

That can help stabilize things considerably and since it's just to add suspension stability and capacity; you can set them up inexpensively just using Schroeder valves.

We used to use Ride-Rites in our trucks with service bodies.

They definately helped with the sag, not for sure how much they'll help the sway.

A good weight distributing hitch or trailer sway bar will probably help more than anything.

Gotta agree with the above if you're towing long distances. I'll be towing my '67 to Colorado from the NW with a Trailblazer SS. With the stock rear bags, and a weight distribution hitch it'll keep the front wheels on the ground during any heavy breaking and big dips. My pickup is 4000 lbs with a half tank of gas according to the scale at the dump. I'm pretty sure your 'burb is more than that. Don't forget about a controller for your trailer brakes.

Just saw this. :) We're about a quarter mile from the Mall in Martinsburg.
