Well I bascially got my pad build for my building

I had to haul in 38 loads of clay to get it leveled up, 19 hours in a dump truck, about drove me crazy, then I had to spread and pack it. Planning on a 36x44 pole style metal building, with 16x8 and 9x8 garage doors in the east gable end and one walk in door, no windows. Have a buddy giving me a break on concrete and a buddy giving me a break building it. Then hopefully by next winter I will have it insulated and finish the inside and heater installed. Having a issue with a bowed power pole, the electric company says its the telephone companies, both have their lines on it. The electric company won't let me build on pad till they get it all straightened out. you can see the pole in first 2 pics, it has a 5 foot bow

Had a little trouble, see the gate in 2nd pic, I was packing the clay with a loaded dump truck, got too far over the edge and down I went into the gate and fence, woops!!!!! Oh well I was going to move gate and fence anyway, lol

Looks good! It'll look even better with a concrete slab on it:metal:

Looks to me like the 1st pole in your fourth picture is pulling yours over. As long as the wires are not directly over the top of your building, I can't see what their beef is.

Thanks guys, I'm hoping we can get it going why the weather is decent. The electric company guy says I have to be 10 foot away from their power lines, when I'm looking up from building, I moved the building 3 feet south already, but thats as far as I can go, I had to get a variance to go that far.

Holy cow, that's a lot of fill. No wonder you're exhausted!

Funny how qwerky stuff like that pole can cause so much
problem with moving forward. Would be an awful shame
if that pesky dump truck got away again and hit a pole...:dohh:

I would send the power company a letter.State start date on building and see what they say.Otherwise, they may be couple years fixing it.If you can figure out a polite way to tell them you will charge them for any building delay it might help.

Just be grateful that you don't live in New Jersey like I do! If you tried to truck in 38 loads of clay in this state it would cost you 50K for soil inspections, soil erosion prevention, and topography engineering. That's just in hopes of obtaining local permits. Plus if you lived anywhere near water all bets are off. That is unless your a local politician. Then you can do anything you want.:cuss:

Tell both it is yours and take care of it with the dump truck

Kansas, huh. Don't you guys have those freak tornados that can crop up in the middle of the night and blow a chain saw right thru a power pole? I see that all the time on the news:lol::lol::lol:

Re: Well I bascially got my pad build for my building

I would ask both companies for a legal document proving they do not own the pole. That way you have legal proof they do not want to fix their problem. Put up your building and if they complain you can show them they have released their rights in the situation allowing you to build without their concern.

If no one says its theirs I'd start building. Let them worry about it when it falls.

So has the power company stalled your building permit? In your first post you said they wouldn't let you build on your pad until it was resolved. How?

I'm tracking with Bodyman922's comments, if it were me I would have my lawyer write them both a letter. Wouldn't cost much and they are far more likely to take action when they know you are serious.

Usual disclaimers - not a lawyer, have no money, fighting a dry skin condition, work in a train wreck of a country...

Re: Well I bascially got my pad build for my building

Sorry guys I was gone 6 days, got a call before I left and forgot to reply on this thread. Electric company is staking claim to it now and are going to put up a new pole, BUT the guy says it may be 6 weeks to do that and still won't let me start on building. It really sucks because the weather hasn't been that bad here and my guy could of had most of it up by now

WOO HOO got the pole set today, but now its supposed to start snowing here tomorrow night, they are saying 10-15 inches, thats just great!!!!!!! It might be spring now before we get it started. If they would of got the pole deal straightened out weeks ago, we could of had the garage up by now. Here are pics of new pole and the old pole cut off some beside it

Zicc1835, more pics Wed after work
Desertcat, it seems thats all I've been doing;)

Got the drain put in today and most of the poles extended up to 10 foot, my buddy Rod is putting gerts on and finishing poles tomorrow. Concrete guy is coming to set it all up and put sand in tomorrow and they planning on pouring Fri morning. Trusses are coming Mon, I have to figure out how we are going to put up the gable truss on the west side, he said it weighs 300#'s, so I don't think we can lift it up there by hand, I may have rent a boom truck (unless you guys have any other ideas) we won't be able to drive on concrete with backhoe. My boss is coming back tomorrow so I won't be able to help him as much on building till I get off work:waah:
Its getting there though, very happy with it all so far, wish it was done though:lol:
