Most common rust places on Blazers?

I'm starting to look at a Blazer to purchase.
I need your expert advice / experience on two rust related questions.

1) What is the most common places (unique to blazers, I know about pickups) that these things rust.

2) What are the most difficult places to fix the rust IE: What should I look for / what Blazers should I shy away from due to rusty places?

Thanks!

Darren

rocker boxes, rear quarters, top windshield frame

once the top rubber go's bad on the windshield frame, water gets into the windshield frame and down it go's into the door pillar rotting out the lower section door jam, kick panel, rocker, and into the rocker boxes.

IMO anything can be fixed/replaced as long as you have the patience, plus blazers are not as abundant as trucks. So get creative and try to work with what you got.

Windshield frame is the most important area to check, check it very carefully, pull back the windshield rubber as much as you can and check for rust, try poking the metal in different areas with something sharp. All the other areas that rust are an easier fix then the WS frame.

Great info guys!
I bet the windshield frame would be a bugger to fix.
I don't do body work. I have to pay someone. So I can pay more for a clean rig, or pay more for a body man to fix it. I may as well pay extra for a good clean Blazer.

What is the diffrence between the "rocker boxes" on a Blazer, and the "rocker panels" on a pickup? Anything?

Thanks!

Darren

Rocker panels are the same as trucks. Rocker boxes are behind the panels and under floor. These are the support for door openings as there is no roof. Do a search under "rocker boxes"--there are some good pictures to show you what they are.

Common Rust

One spot not yet mentioned is the cowl. It likes to rust on either side at the bottom and can rust just above the brake booster area, kinda behind the hood hinge.
The cowl extends down both sides behind the rear of the fenders, it ends about 1/2 to 3/4's of the way down.
Even a blazer being sold as "rust free" needs to be checked close.
Good luck in your search and have fun
