My husbands friend brought over his 1971 truck today. He bought it from the original owner- $750!!!! Then he sold the camper out of the bed for $150- so for $600 he got this truck-
Almost all original! Unbelievable!!! Check it out!

Looks damn nice!! I think you can safely say he stole that truck!!

I see the doors have the screws in them below the vent window. I thought those were only in the 72 models?? Or is there such a thing as a late-model 71 that might use them as well?

1969 GMC 05-17-2004 11:30 PM

Nice truck!!

I think it's a '72, also...the doors and door panels give it away for me.
I guess they could;ve been swapped but not likely.

Canadian694x4 05-17-2004 11:41 PM

Sweet Truck!!! Definitely a great deal he got on that truck!

Rod 05-17-2004 11:43 PM

Stole that one I'd say. Good score there. ;)

That's not a truck...that's a friggen time machine.
How many miles does that sucker have on it?
On the drivers door you can see the birthday sticker...you can tell what month it was completed, those stickers are cool and not many rigs still have them. I wish they made them in repro, but as far as I know, they don't make them yet.
here is mine;

you guys remember a while back the thread about the rarest truck being rust free & un-molested? WE HAVE A WINNER!!! :metal:
does he know that he will die soon, now that his life is complete?

Randy70C-10 05-18-2004 07:07 AM

Wow, that is a steal. So, when is he going to become a board member??

Bowtie67 05-18-2004 07:42 AM

A few 72's 05-18-2004 08:41 AM

Nice truck.
Hope he asked for the tailgate? With the camper and it coming from the original owner it may be stored somewhere. Friend of mine got a set or rims, lugs and caps that were put away by a original owerer with his truck, just for asking.

Yeah- he asked about the tailgate....they had GIVEN it away to someone a few years ago. Of course it had been taken off the truck new and stored! I wish I was the guy they gave it to!
Here are a few more pics I took- not great pics, but I thought you guys were liking this truck so much I would post them. :)

super-k 05-18-2004 08:54 AM

Sweet`72!Those camper trucks from older folks(and original owners)are true survivers.I`ve seen cherry GMC grilles go for MORE than he paid for the truck.I bought a`71CustomCamper with matching camper in`88(still have it).The original wood in bed was/is still perfect.I bought it from the original owner`s son(after he died)for$3,000 and jumped w/joy.71,000mi.and all original.Rat Own Dude!

Gee_Emm 05-18-2004 09:24 AM

Wow awesome, hope he keeps it stock.

dtlilly 05-18-2004 10:10 AM

Awww, just go tell your friend I'm sorry for him getting ripped off...in fact...I'm such a good friend...tell him I'll give him what he paid for the truck, and I'll take the loss... Maybe, just maybe I'll be able to break even selling it for parts...but most likely I'll just have to cart it off and get scrap price for it...(I'm absolutely being satirical and actually believe that is truely a survivor class of truck) ;) :D  :)

lock 05-18-2004 04:01 PM

 Call the police. Some dude got robbed! Nice find.

Stepsides 4Ever 05-18-2004 04:23 PM
