fuel pump
 

I have a see-thru plastic fuel filter (Fram#G2) on my 350. On my previous truck, I had the same filter. In the filter, I could see it was usually about 1/4 to 1/2 full. The filter was mounted horizontally. This filter is mounted horizontally as well. However, the filter does not seem to have fuel in it. This hasn't caused any problems with it running. Is my fuel pump on the way out?? The PO says it was replaced less than 4 years ago...

I have the same clear plastic fuel filter, and mine is also always 1/4 to 1/2 full. I have changed fuel pumps numerous times and it always remains at the same level.

Mine used to stay half full Then i got an electric pump now it stays plum full its vertical thou but i dont think that matters too much

I also forgot to mention that when the engine is hot, it does not start right away. Could the pump be weak and beginning to show signs of not being able to overcome vapor lock.

I doubt if you have vapor lock. It is not unusal for the filter to look empty.

You will still have fuel in the carb when it is hot unless you have a problem with your carb. I would suspect the carb is causing you hot start problems.

I forgot that the fuel bowls in the carb would have gas. The carb is a new Edelbrock Performer 650 CFM. Do have any suggestions as to what would need to be adjusted??The idle mixture seems to be ok, but maybe it is not??

I spoke with an Edelbrock Rep. He said I needed Gasket Part#9266 underneath the carb. He sounded pretty confident that the gas was getting too hot & this was the problem. Does this sound correct??

Try adjusting your timing a little before you start making too many carb changes.

I recently installed an HEI distributor & set the timing @ 10 Degrees BTDC. I spoke with a guy this weekend who suggested retorquing the carb bolts after it heats up...
