6.0l LS1 in my 68, finally got it
Well I finally bought a LS1. I got a killer deal on a complete 6.0 liter. I am now looking for a used T56, 6 speed from a LS1 car with all the hydraulics and clutch.
Jerr, sorry I didn't respond to your PM before but I have been super busy! I PMed you back finally. Thanks. Here is a pic of the truck (needs springs!) and the new motor. I'm getting really excited. I bought a cam and springs from an 02 Z06 that will be going in soon. I gutted and painted the whole interior this week and I'm about to put it all back together. Does anyone know if they make a sliding rear window aftermarket? |

Will be interesting to see the install.

YEP, want to see the install. I am presently working on a LS-1 install in my 68 Chevy truck/Rod at this time. I am looking for a clean look and horsepower at the same time. I think that I have all of the parts that I want lined up at Street and Performance.

Sawweeet!!!

Yeah, S and P is wayyyy too expensive for me though... I think I can do just about everything with out using them. Hopefully!

Nice looking short step can't wait to see the 6.0 installed
|
it's a long step actually. I like them better...
|
Did you get an LQ4 or an LQ9? And if you don't mind telling just how good of a "killer deal" did you get? I'm asking because I am actively looking for a 6.0 and a 4L80E and wanted to get some idea what about prices. Keep us posted on the install and take LOTS of pictures. I agree with the expensive part, why have someone else make what you can do yourself for a lot less.
|
It is an LQ4 motor. Which is what I wanted anyway, better for a blower or N2O... I paid $800 for the motor and wiring, PCM. From what I have seen they usually go for about 2500+ for a complete motor and wiring/pcm setup. Those 4l80's are pretty pricy also, about a grand....
I'll keep everyone posted. I'll know on Monday if I got this 6 speed from my buddy at LG Motorsports of not... |
*****in, can't wait to see the install on that.

PPG base coat with three clears, BMW - Dark Steel Metalic
I think it looks real clean, has almost a blue tint to it in the sun. |

first mod, well besides the ZO6 cam and springs I installed tonight in the 6.0liter. I drilled a hole in the stock tank sending unit deal and brazed in 1/2 tubing and routed it with 90 and 45 degree couplers all the way down to the bottom. If you look at the new piping it makes the stock stuff look like a toothpick! haha, 1/2" is overkill but I plan on Ying it and running a dedicated nitrous fuel pump and another inline walbro 255 to the motor. Since these are return line systems the stock line will be used as a return.
