Signal switch on tilt with automatic
I'm trying to replace the turn signal switch on my 72' that has factory tilt and automatic transmission. I don't see how I can get the plug on the end of the factory wire loom to come out without disassembling the column. Next problem, how do I get the column appart??? Any tips?
Thanks Tom Bend, OR |
Dissassembly of the column is tricky, so I would suggest pulling the wires out of the the plug. It is not that hard to do with a small screw driver used to release the retainers. If you are putting in a new switch, some of them come with the plug off so that you put the plug on after feeding the wires through.
An option since you are replacing the old switch and wiring is to cut the plug off and pull the wires out. When feeding the new wires into the column it helps to tape them together. Good luck! Jim |

Thanks
Thanks for the replies. I'm going to extract the conductors from the plug and go that rout. It's much easire and safer that disecting the tilt column, and much faster. I purchased my switch from either LMC or Athey's. Will see how it works.
Thanks Tom |
I swear I saw all the switch parts and cancel cam at the parts store in the HELP stuff hanging on the wall.
