I'm gonna be replacing my thermostat on my 96 v6. whats the pro's and cons of getting the 160 deg stat?

Pro, should be a little more power
Con, probably a little worse mileage
Con, possibly more emissions.
Also, depending on where you live, you may notice a difference in both driveability and heat out the heater in winter. Summer, if it's really hot, you could actually have a hotter running truck because the thermostat will open so soon and stay open so the coolant doesn't have a chance to cool down in the rad. This is unlikely in a newer vehicle like this, but I have seen it older ones. It really doesn't hurt your truck to run with a 195 thermo. With advancements in engine parts technology(like hypereutectic pistons that expand almost none) there is actually almost no more wear a 195 compared to 160. If you have a hot running concern, I suggest a bottle of Redline Water Wetter, or checking the cooling system if it,s a serious one. If you are looking for a little more power, then use the 160 thermo. They work well with a computer programmer too.
