Full-time Headlights
I’ve got a question regarding the headlights on my 1996 Suburban. As most of you know the headlights stay on all the time when driving. Is there some way to re-program or re-configure the computer so they only come on when I turn them on? Thank for any help in advance.

Not computer controlled on a 96. Simply switches and relays.
Pull the fuse that says DRL/fog, that will take care of it. Why is it you want to disable them? Always curious when I see people ask this question. :bowtie: |
Thanks for the info. The reason that I would like to disable this is I have run into quit a few situations camping were I have gone to move the truck late at night and I have spot lighted quit a few tents. Basically I have no good reasons, but I think I would be more likely not to leave my driving lights on when I should have my headlights on because as you know the rear running lights don’t run in the driving light mode. So If I pull that fuse the only thing that will go out is the headlights since I have no fog lights right?

Yep, the headlights still work off the switch as normal, but the DRLs won't function anymore.
For a temporary off you can push the e-brake pedal down just one click and the lights will go off even though the brake is not engaged. |
