$$$ Advice On Buying An Engine...
How much is a Rebuilt 350 4 bolt with approx. 20,000 miles on it worth in your opinions? Nothing overly high profromance on/in it...
I have a guy offering me one for a price but wanted to know what others may have paid for one in similar or better condition. What's too much etc, etc? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Brian :canada: :bs: :bowtie: :metal: :flag: |
need more details to give an accurate price what you just described could be anywhere from 500 to 1500 or more depending on who did the rebuild what parts were used what all is included and so and so forth how much does he want for it?
|
I wouldn't give more than $500 for a rebuilt motor (a stocker), providing you can comp. test it. Brand new one is $1200.

He wants $600.
I haven't actually seen it yet but I would like to compression test any engine I sought to buy. I believe this motor was out of a 30's Coupe (was a really sweet looking car, no pics tho...)that he was in an accident in. He's not actively trying to sell it but would to me for the $600 if I really want it. I've been thinking if the price was right that I would drop a 350 in the truck (so I can keep driving it) and rebuild the 283 or build up a 327 out of it as she is starting to tire... Thanks for the info! |
really depends a stocker with carb starter hei accessories(1wire alt) brackets exhaust etc would fit in the $500-$600range
but it also depends on WHO REBUILT IT ?? if it was a big company that did the rebuild look for their tag and there will usually be on the front of the engine on one of the freeze plugs be a tag thing also. if it's a backyard rebuild you're takin a bigger chance depending on skill level and honesty of the guy you're dealing with |
Brian,
Is that $600.00 Canadian or US ? |
