did anyone need extra chip for hypertech?

i have a 97' silverado with the vortech 5.7. i just bought a hypertech power programmer off of ebay and it doesnt work. the code that shows up is "configuration lost, call hypertech". i checked the trouble shooting guide and it says that they will send me a special chip to insert and that will make it work.

has anyone had theis problem with there programmer and if so did it cost anymore money than the outragous cost of the programmer itself?

I think I would take that up with the seller. Unless of course they said it didn't work in the auction.

i emailed the guy before i bid on the auction, and made sure that he had de-programmed the old vehivle and he said yes! the code or that is "allready installed, please remove from other vehicle".

it says-

CALIBRATION NOT FOUND CALL HYPERTECH

then the book say-

HYPERTECH WILL SED YOU A SMALL CIRCUIT CARD TO PLUG INTO YOU POWER PROGRAMMER PLUS. THE INSTALL IS VERY SIMPLE....PLEASE HAVE YOUR VIN NUMBER READY. :banghead:
