Bed Removal

Is soon as I get my beast home, the bed is coming off, the hood, cowl and fenders are coming off and the motor and trans are going into the garage for the rebuild this winter. How many people does it take to carry a Long Fleet bed a couple feet, and is there a better way to do that. Thanks.

2 people can remove a bed. 4 people can remove a bed with ease. 1 person using 4 sawhorses and 2 boards can also remove the bed. Easiest way is bribe someone else to. ;)

well im sure paul has more experience on this but just to input my method: if u have a fork lift handy, just put a couple 2x4s or 4x4 inside the bed and lift it straight up.

If you are taking out the motor and trans I am guessing you have access to an engine hoist? A couple of pieces of chain to the bed bolts by the wheel wells hook it to the hoist (a little experimenting with the balance) and its an easy one man job.

I have a hoist and an A frame and a comealong so the equipment is not the issue. I have never done any sort of body work or engine work before. I was an electrician before I started teaching. This is the first project truck for me.
