Pulled 2 Cabs this weekend
5 Attachment(s)
Got started on my stepside this weekend.
Got the cab and front clip off of the 70 GMC step. Pulled the old 68 lwb chevy around and pulled the cab off it for the transplant. Used the hoist adapter I got at the last swap meet I went to. Boy it saved a bunch of headaches. Had to put a couple of cement blocks in rear to level out but other than that it was simple one man operation and very stable. Got the cab set on the dolly to get started on clean up and prep. Wanted to change out the parking brake inside to 69-72 style but the fuse block hole is right in way. Hate to cut out the whole area and weld in just to change park brake to foot operated. not sure on that yet. Anyway so it begins -- again! |
Do you know where to get another one of those cab lift adapters to remove a cab?? Looks like it worked pretty good.
|
if you could get a pic of that lift adaptor i could make those at work and sell them to you guys for a small fortune :):):):) jk, but id love pics and measurements, sell them dirt cheap b/c the shipping would be killer
|
I'll lay it out tonight and get pics and measurements.
I would think you could take the measurements to any machine shop and it would be cheaper than shipping. As far as the lift adapter is concerned I think it worked great and far better than lifting from above the cab. Plus it is adjustable for other years. |
id be very interested in the measurements etc. I ve got a hammer and a couple of screwdrivers I'll build one! LOL zooza@tds.net thanks in advance!

man you make it look so simple! :metal:
