What kind of transfer case?

I pulled a 3sp tranny and the transfer case out of a 1969 K5 Blazer the other day and I can't seem to find out what kind it is. The guy that I got it from seems to think it is a gear type but doesn't know what make it is. Somebody please help me out here!!! Thanks in advance.

it is a new process=np205 if it is origonal

Take a look at the back of the transfer, if it has a small round plate held on by three bolts in the center-It's a NP 205=very good transfer

Autos came with NP205 and I believe that the manuals in '69 came with a Dana 20. Anyone know if this is correct.

My '69 K-5 has an NP203 but the engine, tranny and t-case are not original.

The original 69 K5 Blazer that I parted had a 3 speed with Dana 20 tcase.

I am thinking it is a rockwell tc . I also think that in 69 only automatics came with 205 tc

I'd say dana 20 with a three speed in a Blazer. And its is a gear type transfer case.

The 69 K-10 LWB pickup with factory 3 speed that I have has the Rockwell case in it.

3 speed blazers had dana 20's even though trucks used rockwells

in a 69 blazer i thought if it had a 3-speed it came with a dana 20 but if it had a sm465 4-speed or a turbo 350 you got the 205 transfer case.

Blazer1970 04-05-2002 07:42 AM

It is a Dana 20. Rockwells were never used in Blazers.

If anyone has a pic, I would like a pic of the Dana 20 installed. I've got pics of the Rockwell, NP205 and NP208, but not the Dana 20.

My 69 K5 has a dana transfer case, it has a "J" pattern for shifting the tcase. I also have the sm465 4 speed, I was told it was a dana "30", but I know nothing of t-cases. I do know it has the dana name stamped in it though. I was reading up, and apparently blazers all had a different tcase than the regular trucks.

Thats what so great about this boards i learn something new almost every day . So can some one post a picture of the dana 20 ? In 69 and 70 did blazer's come equiped with 205 on automatics and 4 speeds ?

I am almost sure that I have heard someone say that they had a '69 Blazer with the TH350 and Dana 20 combo. I know that they started using NP205s in some Blazers in '70 or '71. My '70 factory repair manual makes it sound like all Blazers came with Dana 20s for that year, but I think there were some 205s.
