My new Bestop
 

Finally installed my new Bestop yesterday. I haven't had any kind of top on since March. Took blazer on 300 mile trip yesterday. It performed flawlessly. Ant one else have a Bestop Tigertop? I was not the happiest with weight of material. And of course the old top holes on mine did not line up with new ones, so blazer looks like swiss cheese. I also was wondering how to tell how much lift a blazer has? Measure btween wheel well or bump blocks? Mine appears to have about 2-4 inches and still has stock shocks on it. This makes for a very choppy ride. Anyone recommend a good 2" lift kit and shock package? Thanks, moodyholler

From the picture it looks very similar to the fastrac. I'm still not sure which brand I'll get, but I hope a couple of people can get together and compare the two tops. Blazer and new top looks sharp moody. I have no info on lift - sorry.

Nice to hear it is on - so the material is not heavy enough? For the money, would hope they used heavy enough material.

Your rig doen't look like it is lifted to me. If it is, I would guess it is more like a 2" lift (just guessing from that one picture). Does it have blocks in the rear? Do the front springs sit flat or arc up, or do they arc down?

To front wheel well 37" and 36 3/4" to rear wheel well. Front springs 3 total, a little arch up (1") and no rear blocks but some kind of cut down HD coil helper springs thsat control height and make for a damn bumpy ride. Stock shocks are bottoming out and it is miserable to ride long distances in. Thanks for all your input. By the way had about 3' rain last night and new bestop let in a good amount of rain. Seems it does not seal up tight above wing window. ALL BEWARE!! Is ther any call out there for an 88 silverado blaxzer with no engine, tranny, or transfer? NNNOOO RUSTTT NO WHERE!! pw,pl,pb,tilt, cruise, and power steering. Has 74 differentials in it. Also have a good title. Lt gray outside and med blue inside. 1,000.00 buys it. Thanks, moodyholler

I thought you were trying to sell your blazer? smart move to keep it. I took my top off this past weekend, and Saturday night at 2 am, while putting the top back on, luckily it was a full moon, I realized how bad I need a soft top.

I'd guess that your springs are stock, especially if the fronts arc up. They might just be worn out, your shocks too. You can put in helpers springs or add-a-leafs (might be what you have already).

I like the height it is now. So I'll try to find some new springs. Hokie, I am going to build a house this winter and am going to need a truck bad. Something will have to give. For now I am just enjoying it. If someone wants a nice California blazer on this coast they can have it. Later, JAP

moodyholler - Keep the Blazer and get a trailer! I've aways wanted a trailer made from a longbed to pull behind my Blazer. Mister-Freeze has a nice setup!

I have a best top but I am taking it off it has to problems you have to deal with one is it does not have sawn seams on the windows they are melted together so If you keep the top snug they start to come apart and the other problem is it sags in the center between the center hoop and the rear so if you let it get a little lose and dont watch it you can end up with a small pond It wasnt a problem when the top was new but as it got older and streched the sage got to be ware it always held water and know every time it rains I have to empt water from it. I ended up using a center suport to keep the water running off of it. I kept the top so I could have one made out of canvas like they use for boats this should make a good top.

Moodyholler...i Purchased A Bestop Soft Top For My K5 Last Year. It Sat In The Box Until Last November When I Had It Installed. We Had Problems From The Start, And I Wasn't Very Happy. I Had Bestops On My 1977 Cj5,my 1972 Blazer,1984 Cj7 And My Piece Of Crap 1978 Bronco. I Was Very Happy With Them All. Last Week I Had My Back Window Rolled Up And Was Going To Town When The Flap Came Down And Started Flapping In The Wind. After A Mile Or Two ,i Pulled Over To Find The Flap Had Ripped From One Side To The Other Right Above The Window. I Was Really Burned. The Repair Guy Said He Could Sew It Back Up But Didn't Think It Would Hold. I E-mailed Bestop And Told Them Want Had Happened. The Next Day I Get An E-mail From Nichole In Customer Service......bestop Is Sending Me A Brand New Top At No Charge!!!! They Were Very Upset And Stand Behind Their Products.....and Wanted Me To Be Happy. So For My Money, I'll Always Buy A Bestop.....their One Company That Takes Care Of You.

You might want to get a good but semi/stock set of shocks and see how that effects your ride. I got my first blazer 24yrs ago lifted it and it rode great with the orginial stock shocks. Being 16yrs old I had to have new shocks. Then I started buying the off road shocks. the bigger the better. The stiffer and worse it became. went back to a stock monroe and its a good combo based on stiffness of springs

So what's the word bouncy? Didnt you say your ordered one. Where from? did ya get it yet/how long did it take? Did ya put it on yet? Sorry if i'm just out of the loop :(
