Finding an almost rust free 67-72 cab here in Pa. is about the same odds as getting struck by lightning. But I found one. Check out this hack job on one of the finest cabs I've ever seen in one of our junkyards. This truck is virgin and even had the original working T-3 headlights! Low mileage too. Box was missing in action before it arrived and someone bought the doors and seat. (I'll just bet them doors were rust free!)

This is a 1968 C-20 that has (had) a beautiful cab. The floors are rust free, it still has the original rockers and cab corners all of which are rust free with no holes or bondo to be found, and wouldn't you just know it, some knucklehead hacked the whole rear section out of it!

In the first pic, we see the back. Rear window was removed and a huge opening was cutout, then the rest of the window area was patched over with sheetmetal and screws.

The second pic shows this horrifying "monster garage" hack job from the inside. What was this person doing? I haven't a clue. Note the rear floor area. I've never seen a rear floor with no rust/holes before.

Pic #3 shows the nice original rockers and cab corner and some of the floor.

I have given thought to buying this and grafting in a rear section from another truck but it's alot of work.

Anyone in the Pa area want to rescue this? I'll give directions. :flag:

i bought a frame from a guy that did that. he took a perfect truck and had this bright idea to miniaturize it. he sliced a 4 inch section right down the middle of the cab so it would fit on an s10 frame. dude was an idiot and messed it all up too. i don`t know about some people.

Maybe it was a mobile rv conversion on back that they took off

i remember in the early 80's seeing alot of hack type jobs like that , even hotrod magazines had howto's on the subject. the theory???was havin a pickup with a cap so you could have the advantages of a van but still have a pickup . didn't make sence to me then and makes less sence to me now!!!!
