Aux. battery box
Was the aux. box an option for all 67-72 trucks, or specific to certain models/options, like camper specials, 4x4s, etc? Does anybody have any pics of how the cables should be routed?

I have heard it was mostly Camper Specials

I think it could be ordered on any truck, it was never a part of any package.
There was a relay so that when you turned off the ignition switch, the #1 battery would be disconnected and you could run the camper off of batt #2. That way in the morning you didn't need a jump. You'd hit the ignition switch, and #1 battery would be turned back on and you'd fire up the truck. Then as it was running, Batt #2 would charge back up. |
Thanks for the replies, every little bit helps!

Come to the Ohio board meet and you can see the setup in person!
I have it too, but I am not hooking it up that way. I'm just running two batteries in parallel circuit for twice the cranking amps. |
I looked at a 69 Checy 4X4 with a plow set-up not far from where I'm living, and the guy used the second battery to run the plow, emergency lights, radio, C/B, etc. Sure wasn't much left of this truck after all these years in the salt
