First days work. Got a great start. [EDIT 4/22/05 :) PRIMER]
Going to sandblast entire bed and inside of cab. No major rust, just surface. Figured I'd get it now. :D 53,400 original miles :D Truck needs a passenger side inner and outer rocker but that's it. We'll see how far it goes...probably a complete repaint by the time we're finished. |
With rust like that I'd get rid of it as fast as ya can to 65066......:)
|
I'll Take Mudder's Left Overs, 38313 Here. ;)
|
That is a clean start! I've been working for months & have a Long way to go before mine looks like that.
|
Hey nice truck, happy restorating, Doug

Man that is one fine looking ride you got there, i would love to have a nice soild fleetside 69-70. looks like you did a great job on the rockers...nice work that's the way it's suppose to be done. did you blast the inner rocker plate and seal/prime it?
|
Lookin' good! Thats a good way to take the bed off the truck if you don't have 4 people to lift it off, haha.

[sat 8/21/04] continuing saga... Took the rear window out, and the bed floor off today also gutted the doors, now I have about two days worth of sand blasting to do... Have a slite bow on the inside panel of the tailgate to get out too. Frame looks pretty good. Really solid, needs a good cleaning then the Eastwoods or POR or something along those lines. |

Dude, nice truck! Wish mine looked like that, but mine's FAR from it. :D I need both inner/outer rockers, left cab corner, cab floor supports, and the roof is almost patched up, but I'm not finished yet.
|
Great work! I'll be doing the same thing over the next month or two.
The bolts that bolt the bedside to the floor are doable if they are not rusted...but how did you get to the bolts that attached the bedside to the bed front? Did you use a special wrench of something? I looked at mine and I don't think I can get a wrench in between the bed and the cab. Jim Mt Juliet :bowtie: |

I've been through 9 bags of sand blasting material so far.
5th pic) Took almost 6hrs to blast the bed floor, it's been metal etched and has the first coat of epoxy primer on it now. 4th pic) When I got the truck it had an aux. tank under the bed and never could figure out how they filled it...through the gas door in the drivers side quarter  yep, found a sh*ty patch under a buch of bondo  3rd pic) Filling in all the holes the P/O had in the top of the bed rail's for a tool box I guess. 2nd pic) The truck as it sat by the end of the day today...remember this all started with full intent on ONLY doing the rocker. 1st pic) My truck full of "homework". Brought allot of the sheet metal back to my house to D/A it there. Trying to save a few bucks on labor. |
VT Looking Real Good! I hope when I tear into my Truck my Progress will be as Fast!
