98 Master cylinder problems

Hey guys, name is Matt. Long time listener, first time caller.

I have a 98 GMC 1500 vortec V6. Driving the truck yesterday for the first time in ages as my wife is usually the sole driver. I noticed the brakes felt kinda soft, and they progressively got worse throughout the day. I check the wheel cylinders and calipers and they look ok, but the M/C was wet on the bottom side. I also noticed the resevoir (sp?) felt loose, and when you wiggle the resevoir, you can see around the front seal where it mount to the M/C dampness. is there anyway to tighten this? what would cause it to all of a sudden become loose? am I looking at a new M/C ?? thanks for any input.

IF the master cylinder is leaking it needs to be replaced.

After I had the wheels off and all checked out, it seems to have brakes again. Odd thing is I didn't do anything but look. I'm keeping a close eye on the master.
