Dual Tanks solenoid tank switcher

Can anyone point me to a place that has these?

It is the solenoid that mounts on the frame fed by the electric toggle switch in the cab to select the left or right tank.

NAPA doesn't carry it. I cannot find it on the web. I cannot find it in on the few board parts sites either.

Does anyone have the GM # for a 79 K10 shortbed w/dual tanks???
Any pointers welcome. Thanks.

Bite the bullet and purchase a new fuel valve from GM. :)

roger0080 08-22-2004 11:41 PM

Thanks for confirming my suspicions that I need to get it from GM. Was wondering about LMC but don't have a catalog. Hundred dollars uh? I was guessing thirty-forty bucks, <sigh>

Found one

Advance Auto Parts has 2 kinds for 79 3 port for $27.99 and a 6 port for $57.99
I'm guessing 3 port is without return lines to tank and 6 port is with returns.
hope this helps,

the ones at the regular parts houses are going to be retro-fit units, youre going to have to splice wires and its not going mount like stock, etc... I wouldnt think TWICE about buying a new GM valve again. Get the part number and check GMpartsdirect.com first, you might save a few bucks.

JCWhitney has them. Wiring is identical to the stock gm wiring.

Delco part number? If you can get the delco part number from GM you can probably buy it from rockauto.com for less, they list part #14029228 for my 86, but they did not have a listing on the 79 K10 for a Fuel Tank Selector Valve. They do have a search for Delco part numbers and Napa Online will provide for searches of non-napa part numbers as well.
Just a thought.

I couldn't find mine online with Auto-Zone and when I
took it in to them - they couldn't find it in their computer.

So they looked for it the old fashion way -
and started opening boxes and found one.

It's a (Wells pn#FSV2) 6 port valve. Perfect replacement.
About $55.00
