4bbl throttle cable/linkage
My buddy just got a 4bbl Offenhauser intake for his 230/250 I6 and installed in last night. He's looking for some ideas (pictures) of throttle cable/linkage setups for Chevy I6's with a 4 barrel carb so he can fabricate something to work.
Thank you. |
Sorry no pics, but you can go to the parts store & pick up some 1/4" rod, thread one end for the accelerator end, bend a hook in the other end. Basically just make a new, longer rod. Brian

If the carburator is setting with the throttle lever on the left(driver's) side of the truck, then like Brian said, fabricating a new rod should work fine.Even if it's backwards, with the lever on the right side,it may still work OK with a rod;you'd just have to hook the rod at the bottom of the lever instaed of the top.But if the carburator is positioned sideways with the lever in the front or back, you might be better off with an aftermarket cable setup rather than trying to fabricate a bellcrank setup.Bellcranks work OK,but you have to be sure they don't bind up and sometimes it's hard to get the travel ratio right.Just my 2cents,hope that helps.Good luck!

Thanks for the info.
The carb is positioned sideways, with the lever facing the back (towards the driver). Do you know who makes aftermarket cable setups? Thank you. |
The pedal/cable setup from a 71-72 truck can be used, or if you have the bucks www.lokar.com
