It almost looks like the smog pump bracket on my truck. I'm not sure if they were putting them on the 70 1 ton's or not. I don't see any holes in the ram's horns for the smog stuff though. It's a little tough to tell.

That's a nice survior. That engine looks to be a 307? to me going by the air cleaner.

2bbl carb 307. with a load on that could be a real dog. I agree on the smog pump brackets. It shouldn't be there in 1970, probably not even California trucks. The 3/4 ton and bigger trucks went by diferent emissions rules than passenger cars and light duty trucks.

The bracket on the engine could be for a plow pump. It sure looks like the bracket that supports my pump, anyway.

Being from Illinois it would not be a surprise, if it were equipped with a plow some time ago.
