Just finish the first phase. Next phase- two recievers for a winch.

Looks good! I would suggest spray painting the lower part of the outer grill so it looks like it is touching the fenders. It will make it seem like less GAP.

That's a good idea, I might do that. Thanks.

I like it, I want to do one for my 70 and have the d-rings.

Real nice! That would look even better if it were chrome! I was thinking of doing a similar thing, the local plating shop here said they'd chrome something like that for $200. Just an idea. Looks nice and strong. Are you planning on using a winch that fits into a trailer ball reciever?

poff 09-17-2004 11:43 AM

I am going to make my own winch mount that uses two trailer hitch receivers. The ones you buy only use one. I think my truck is too heavy for one. I am going to put them just far enough apart to cover them with the licence plate.

I have an old Warn M8274 winch. I need to get some parts and rebuild it.

I posted a couple on the first thread of the 4x4 discussion yesterday. I'll post some more once I get the bumper painted.

New pic and whole rig. 2wdBlazer, thank for the painting idea.

Looks great! I wish they were all painted like that. I know all mine are. Another tip, You could chop up a front roll pan to fill in more gaps from that bumper. It looks great like it is now though.

My stock bumper is all scratched up underneath from 4wheeling, a roll pan would not last long.

looks great, kinda like mine.... mine has too much bend, it sticks out too far, your looks realy good. i like the tip about painting the lower, outer grill.
my bumper came with the truck, i added the d-rings. just wondering, why did you mount the rings vertical? will they stay in place? i can only here mine rattling in realy choppy stuff
p.s i realy get a kick out of the d-rings on the h2, i want to see some soccer mom hook up and rip out an oak tree with 'em lol

I mounted them vertically to keep the welds close to the bumper brackets. I did not use very thick box tubing. I am going to add a receiver mount winch and wanted to make sure they were plenty far away. Also stops them from hanging below the bumper when I drag it on the ground. I do here them once in a while when I turn a corner hard.
