68 Clip

I have a 71 C10 that I am putting a 68 front clip on. My question is about the radiator support bushings. My 71 frame radiator support brackets which are rivited on have a big hole in them which lets me use only the 69-72 radiator support bushings, will this cause any alignment problems? Do I need to get the 67-68 frame brackets & radiator support bushings? Thanks for any input.

You will need the shorter rad/core support panel from a 67/69 pickup I believe.

Yes, that's what I was thinking, that you'll need the earlier year core support for the swap.

71 to 68 front clip

I have all the parts to put a 68 front clip onto my 71 (fenders, radiator support, grill, hood, gravel shield etc.). The (2) brackets riveted to the frame for the radiator support bushings have larger holes on a 69-72 than the brackets on a 67-68 which is why there are different bushing kits for these trucks. Do I need to change these brackets so that the 67-68 bushings will work, or if I use 69-72 bushings will this cause fender-hood-grill alignment problems?

That I'm not sure about but here's a ttt for you. If you need a set of the brackets let me know. I have a set off my '68 and I'll be making a custom core support for mine and not sure I'll be using them. Maybe we can swap brackets or something.

I have a '68 C/10. This summer we replaced the radiator support bushings after installing the re-built engine. The bushings in the kit LMC sent me had a larger diameter than my '68. I tried getting the right parts at a local muscle car shop that deals in vintage chevy truck parts. He only had the larger diameter. Since I didn't see anywhere that I could get the smaller '68 diameter bushings, I had my buddy open out the holes with a die grinder. It worked OK. If the correct vintage part is available, of course, that's a lot better.

You must use 67-68 style radiator support bushings. Along with a 67-68 style radiator support and fenders. The hood you brought back to Charlotte is over at the body shop on a 68 truck and it fits prefect I do not understand why your body man was having problems unless you have 69-72 bushing under the radiator support???? You must also use a 67-68 style hood latch if you are going to use a 67-68 style front end.
