runaway wheels!!!!

I recently got some new 15X10 Eagle alloys with 35" BFGs on them. for the first 2 weeks I had problems with shakes and wobbling. back to the tire shop several times without results. Then one day the right rear wheel passed me on the freeway at 65+mph. It sheered all the lug nuts and ruined a bunch of stuff. the tire shop took care of everything but, the suggested that the 7/16" wheel studs were undersized for this tire and wheel. Now I know several people who have this same thing with bigger wheels and tires and they run the heck out of them with no problems. I'm ashamed to admit it but this thing has been off road about 2 times this year so i know it isn't abused. Any suggestions??? :bowtie:

Are they 589's? I had a similar problem with those, teh lugs had to be retorqued frequently. I don't think it is the studs, but maybe the fit of the nuts on the wheel.

If the 589s are the ones that look like the alcoa wheels with the round slots then yes they are but my mistake they are MB motoring wheels

Make sure the lug nuts are not too long for the wheel if they're shank style lug nuts. If they are, then this means that the lugnuts are not tightening the wheel but merely being tightened down to the point of stapping the stud

Supposed to retorque alum wheels after 50 miles.

They are the normal "acorn" style just like OEM and they were retorqued several times as well as rebalanced in the first 2-weeks until we parted ways...
