Quality trailer in Azle has all the stuff you need to build one. They sell just the square plug in receptacle part of it that you can weld to square tubing or whatever you want to make one out of.

thanks for that info Kevin, that place is right down the street from my brothers house, i might swing in there this week.

Ive got the good old fashioned bolt on the bumper type. Its plenty heavy duty Althou I have a a 1/2 thick towplate on the bumper That helps too :bowtie: They dont make em like that no more now its 11 gauge thick towplate

Jake, if you plan to pull hard, go ahead and build the reciever hitch.
I pull heavy and hard, there's no way a bumper would do the duty for me. |
I personally dont like bumper pull trailers for excessive wieght thats what Goosenecks are for :D :bowtie:

I wind up towing a 13k pound trailer fairly often. I'm not happy about a bumper pull that heavy. But, it must be done. By the way, I pull this stuff with my Cummins diesel truck, not the Chevy. That big block in my truck would poop the bed if I asked it to pull that load. |
I have pulled a max of 14k On a bumper pull that was when i was young and ignorant.
Althou it was an 18ft trailer with 3x5 1/4 angle and top rail that helps. Majority of bumper pull trailers arent meant to haul that much anyhow But there are some good ones out there . But most of them time people have those 575$ 16ft trailers wanting to haul a bobcat or other heavy equip with them and wonder why they break . |
I don't know how much the materials, welding and your time would cost you but I have a new one for your truck for $75 Krazy Texan.
