Hey to all you rust removers out there. What do you use to cut out the rusty panels?

You could use darn near anything. Whatever fits in any particular area and cuts metal. It also depends on the nature of the cut, ie. curves or straight lines and how perfect you want things. Low end is tin snips and high end is plasma cutter. I've used jigsaw (w/ hacksaw blade attachment) grinders, cut-off wheels, sawsall, hacksaw, oxy-acetylene, nibblers or just pain old bending until it breaks off, :D

I prefer using air tools, but if not available I usually install a cut-off wheel on my cordless drill.

I picked up a cheap body saw from Harbor Freight. Cuts through sheetmetal real quick. Also cuts curves nice. I've even used it to cut unibody frame rails! It is cheap though. I dial up my oiler when I use it or the piston sticks. I buy the blades from Napa auto. Harbors blades suck. Southpa is correct. It is nice to have a selection of cutting tools to choose from. Since I'll never afford a plasma cutter and probably not acetylene, my favorite 2 powered are the die grinder and body saw.

Plasma cutter all the way. Chickenwing, come on up and use mine, next time.

Cutoff wheel,mainly cause I'm too poor to hae anything else,plus sparks are cool:D

one more vote for the die grinder/cut-off wheel concept, the angled version cuts where the straight one can't reach, so get both...

I have a 29.99 angle grinder & a pile of cutoff wheels. It cuts all day long & yes it has its short commings but you learn to adapt to it. & theres nothing i love more than steel filings in my hair! I'd love a plasma cutter but I'm on a tight budget.

You live in portland, go to Harbor Freight and get one fairly cheap.

And get the thin cut off wheels, they flex a little more.
