Wow that is nice! I love your interior. ;)

Toolboy23 10-07-2004 10:16 PM

Thanks, I want to finish the interior a little more in the coming month or so.

OOH! Tell me more about the wiper motor!!!!

Toolboy23 10-07-2004 10:29 PM

It is also from the 99 tahoe. I bought the tahoe wrecked and used pretty much every part that I possibly could. On the wiper moter it was just a matter of turning how I wanted it, drilling new holes and making a piece of linkage to mate th 99 motor and the 74 wiper arm linkage. Thanks for looking.

I keep going back to your web site and looking at all you have done.

Thanks guys, I've been lurking around here for a little while and just started posting. This weekend I am putting on the new wheels and tires and doing a little more work. The wheels I bought are the new GM 2500HD alloy wheels and tires. I hope they look good on it. I'll try to post some newer pics soon. Thanks again for the comments.

looks awesome man, liked how u added in the tahoe parts, did u have to cut the dash down any to get it to fit? the dash looks alot better then stock!

modmach1 10-08-2004 05:14 AM

That looks sweet :metal:
Was it much fabricating to mount the Tahoe dash and to get the instruments to work? ahh..forget it..you used the harness :D

Toolboy23 10-08-2004 09:00 AM

It wasnt to hard to get the dash in, I had to cut the old dash completly out though. It was spot welded across the top into the windshield frame. I cut it completly out leaving about a 1 inch lip and a 2 inch tab at both sides. Then i hung the new dash on those tabs, welded up brackets for the bottom and bolted it in. It has all been a lot of head scratchin, making things work, but none of it was too hard. Its also been fairly low budget too, which is nice.

Wow! Beautiful work.

The dash is awesome. I have never seen anything like that done before. I would have thought the airbags would be just about impossible to deal with. Are there just some sensors that you swapped over for the airbags?

Coverlay sells new door panels. They are the same ones sold in JC Whitney, but they are cheaper directly from Coverlay. I bought some for my truck. They look good, but they are kind of plain. There was also a thread on this board recently about a group buy from a company called Rodders, I believe. Their door panels looked pretty nice in the pictures. They might match your dash better.

I am swapping a 60/40 power bench seat with center console out of a 98' into my 76'. I have the seats but haven't got around to fabricating brackets. Late model seats would look really cool in your truck with the new dash and all.

Nice truck, definately an excellent looking rig!

I too will be checking out your site more in the future, and if it is OK, I will add a link to it on 73-87.com.

Welcome to the board too. :)

Nice job, truck looks sweet :metal:

Greenlee, The airbags are not operable at this time. I dont know if they ever will be but I want to stick one in there so it doesent look so bad. I suppose I could hook them up though, I'm of the opinion that anything is possible if you throw enough time and/or money at it. Generally the airbag system is kinda seperate from the pcm or body modules. They have a couple of impact sensors somewhere in the front, an airbag control module, then the airbags.

Palf70Step 10-08-2004 08:55 PM

Nice job!!!!

Jonboy 10-08-2004 09:49 PM

good work! I really dig the truck.

Russell 10-08-2004 10:04 PM

Dang! I wanna put one of those dashes in my truck... Not only does it look VERY cool, but it also has airbags!

Have you got any more pictures of this install?

N2TRUX 10-08-2004 10:08 PM

Very well done Toolboy23. From what I can see the merging of the old and new is excellent.... :metal:
