4 spd. to auto ???'s

I have a truck that was originally a four speed. It is now an auto truck. On the frame is the bracket for the z-bar.
Did all trucks have that bracket or can I remove it before sandblasting?
I know that I can remove it but is it supposed to be there for originality?

If you're referring to the backet on top of the LH frame rail, utomatics did not have that bracket.
